Common causes
- Subtitles are disabled in the player
- Wrong subtitle language is selected
- The title simply has no subtitles available for your chosen language
Fix checklist
- Toggle subtitles off/on while playing
- Switch subtitle language (try English as a test)
- Restart Stremio and retry playback
- If casting, test on-device playback first (casting can behave differently)
Best practice
Set a default subtitle language, then only change per-title when needed.
